OCTOBER: At about this time
(Autumn, 1912), Monsignor Eugenio Pacelli of Vatican City is
appointed as a consultore or adviser to the Holy Office-this
is an indication that his views and personal conduct have been found
to be completely orthodox and acceptable to the upper hierarchy of
the Roman Catholic Church. (Source: Hitler's
Pope The Secret History of Pius XII by John Cornwell

(NO SPECIFIC DATE) At some
time during this year in Europe, in yet another sign of his favored
status among the Roman Catholic Church's curial hierarchy, Eugenio
Pacelli is asked to make another trip to England. This time he
travels with Gennaro Cardinal Pignatelli di Belmonte, to attend the
coronation of King George V. While on this visit, Pacelli attends the
Spithead Review of the Royal Navy, and he will later, as Pope Pius
XII, tell of the Review to private audiences of English pilgrims.

(NO SPECIFIC DATE): Also at some
time during this year Serbia is successful in what is called the
First Balkan War against Turkey. Serbia then expands its territory to
include parts of Macedonia, Epirus and northern Albania. With this
expansion comes an increase in the number of Catholics now included
in "greater Serbia". The number jumps from about seven
thousand up to forty thousand, and the Serbian rulers, mostly of
Orthodox religion themselves, see an advantage in being on good terms
with them. (Source: Hitler's Pope The Secret
History of Pius XII by John Cornwell Penguin Books

(NO SPECIFIC DATE): At some time
during this year in Germany, the Catholic Center Party loses its
dominant position in the German Reichstag in the Parliamentary
elections held this year. The new majority party is the Social Democrats. (SOURCE: Hitler's
