•  FEBRUARY:    At some time during this month the Prince Regent in Englad is attacked in his cariage. •  DECEMBER:    During this month  there is no clear understanding between Spain and the United States of America as to where the territory of :Louisiana ends and Spanish Mexico begins. However, Spain is willing at this time to surrender Florida to the United States of America in return for  American acceptance of a boundary for Louisiana as far east of the Rio Grande as possible.  (Source:  The American Nation...to 1877-Second Edition ((Paperback)), John A. • DECEMBER:    Also at some time during this month, Spanish minister Luis de Onis, in negotiating with Secretary of State John Quincy Adams over the western border of the Louisiana Territory, begins by proposing a line in the middle of what will become the State of Louisiana. • DECEMBER:    At some time during this month the Spanish minister in Washington, D.C., Luis de Onis, undertakes to negotiate a treaty with John Quincy Adams, who is President James Monroe's Secretary of State.
